Avro keyboard is the popular software to type bangla in computer. Since, the popularity of linux based operating systems is increasing the OmicronLab company has also developed software to type bangla in unicode format in linux based OSes.
We faced manual and complex installation process few years back. However now, the installation of avro keyboard is as easy as typing the apt install command in ubuntu.
The ibus-avro is already in the central ubuntu repository. Lets see the result by searching in the apt-cache.

Lets install the ibus-avro via the following command:
$ sudo apt install ibus-avro

Now, we need to either logging off and log in again. Or simply restart your system.
Now go to settings, and navigate to region/languages:

Click on the “+” button in the input sources section.

Select “Bangla (Avro Phonetic)” and click “Add”.
Now we’re ready to type Bangla in any text editor. Open any text editor, and press “Super+space” to switch between input methods.
